Je tiens à remercier tout le monde qui a collaboré et a pris part au projet. J'ai appris plein de choses et cela m'a ouvert les yeux. Je prendrai soin d'emmener tout ce j'ai appris et découvert dans ma nouvelle aventure. À la prochaine!

This project has terminated as of October 2010. I would like to thank everybody who supported us, collaborated, participated and took part in this project. I will take with me everything that I have learned and discovered to my next venture. So until next time... au revoir!

atelier: four à pain 2

Il a fait pluvieux pendant plusieurs jours et enfin il fait beau alors, nous avons fait le premier atelier pour le four à pain.

Notre amie Marine, une nouvelle WWOOFeuse Americaine, Bethany ont participé avec mon hôte André et moi. Comme nous avons étudié la fabrication et fait un test à l'avance pour le mélange de la première couche du dôme, nous avons trouvé que la proportion doit être 4 parts de sable et 1 part d'un mélange de la terre et d'argile moitié-moitié. Nous avons pris des tours pour malaxer le mélange à pieds nus qui était plus vite et efficace. Nous avons passé une bonne matinée en finissant la construction de l'entrée, le gabarit du sable et une partie de la première couche du dôme. Comme le mélange avait l'air d'être trop liquide, on a dû le laisser sécher avant d'ajouter le reste pour faire une couche de 10cms. En tout cas, on s'est bien amuser, c'était comme construire un château de sable à la plage. Merci beaucoup tout le monde! A suivre bientôt...

雨の日が続き、やっと晴れて石釜ワークショップ第一日目。隣村の友人マリーンと新しいアメリカ人ウーファーのベタニー、ホストのアンドレと私の四人での作業でした。石釜のドーム部分の一層目となる砂、土、粘土の割合は資料と事前に試験的に作ったものの結果から砂：土＆粘土の混合物を４：１で作る事にしました。道具で混ぜるより足踏みして混ぜたほうが早く効率的ということでみんな順番に混ぜました。午前中で入り口部とドームの中の砂型と一層目を途中までつくることができました。一層目は厚み１０cmぐらい重ねなければならないので少し緩かった混合物を乾かしてからまた足すことに。みんなでぺたぺたと海での砂城作りのようで楽しかったです。みなさんありがとうございました！

After continuous rainy days, we finally got sunny weather and we held our first day of the wood-fired oven workshop. Marine, a friend from our neighboring village and Bethany, our new American WWOOFer participated with André my host and myself. From research and prior testing, André and I figured that the mixture for the first layer of the dome should be 4:1 of sand:soil & clay mixture. We took turns mixing the mixture with our bare feet - much more faster and efficient than using any other tool. We finished the door entry, the sand mold and part of the first layer of the dome. The mixture seemed to be too wet so we had to leave it to dry in order to create a good 10cm layer for heat insulation. We amused ourselves like building a sand castle at the beach. four à pain 1

Nous avons preparé la base pour le four à pain.

Nous avons construit la base, le gabarit pour l'entrée et écrasé de l'argile que nous a donné par notre voisin. Nous allons malaxer l'argile avec de la terre et du sable pour la première couche du dôme. Nous sommes bien prêts pour l'atelier.

石釜のアトリエのために土台作りをしました。そして入り口部の型作りと釜の一層目に混ぜる粘土をお隣さんからいただいてきて粉状に砕き、準備万端です。

We prepared for the wood-fired oven workshop by constructing the base, the wooden mold for the entry door and grinding the clay that we got from our neighbors into powder form to use for the first layer of the dome. We are all set and ready.

Rénovation du cabanon - 3

Nous avons commencé la reconstruction de l'entrée.

L'original était trop bas,problement construit pour des enfants, donc nous avons cassé le mur autour et au-dessus pour y mettre la poutre en bois. Nous finirons par installer une vraie grande porte. Nous avions aussi gratté les murs intérieurs pour refaire les joints. Des progrès sont réalisés petit à petit!

キャバノンのエントランスの改修を始めました。エントランスが低過ぎたため、普通のドアに置き換えるために周りの壁を壊し、木の梁の位置を上げました。内壁のつなぎを綺麗にするためにも壁を壊しています。作業はコツコツと少しずつ進んでいます！

We started renovating the entrance to the cabanon. Since it was too low, to reinstall a full-size door, we broke the wall around the entrance to raise the wooden beam. We are also in the process of grating the interior walls to redo the joints. We are making progress little by little!

La pousse des potagers

Les légumes et les herbes dans les jardins ont vraiment bien poussé! J'ai fait un purin d'ortie il y a un mois que j'ai utilisé dans les jardins en tant qu'engrais et insecticide. Ca a l'air de bien marcher. Depuis que ça a bourgeonné, «quelqu'un» venait manger mon basilic, mais après plusieurs tentatives naturelles contre lui, en mettant des cendres de bois dans la terre; ça a l'air enfin d'avoir résolu le problème. La camomille a poussé étonnamment et elle a beaucoup de bourgeons qui fleuriront bientôt! J'avais cueilli de la laitue, mizuna, persil, ciboulette, coriandre pour les salades ou omelettes. Lorsqu'ils sont cultivés purement avec le soleil et l'eau, ils sont si savoureux et aromatiques! Cela nous donne vraiment envie de remercier la puissance et le cadeau de la nature.

キー ホールガーデンとハーブスパイラルに植えた野菜やハーブがこんなに育ちました！ここ１ヶ月前にイラクサの肥料を作って、週に一度栄養と虫除けを兼ねて巻いています。それが効いているのもあり、ガーデンは元気いっぱいです。バジルの虫食いに悩まされていたのですが色々な自然方法を試した後、灰を根元に巻いたのがやっと効果あったようです。カモミールもたくさんつぼみが出来ていて近いうちに咲きそうです！どんどん育ってもらうためにレタス、水菜、パセリ、チャイブ、コリアンダーはたまに摘んでサラダにしたり、オムレツに入れたり、とおいしく戴いています。太陽と水だけで育った野菜やハーブは本当に味と香りが濃くてとってもおいしくて感動。自然の恵みに感謝です。

The vegetables and herbs in the keyhole garden and herb spiral have grown this much! I made some stinging nettle manure a month ago and have been feeding it to my garden once a week as a fertilizer and insecticide. This seems to be working very well. Ever since budding, I have been troubled with 'somebody' eating my basil but after various attempts of natural pest control, placing wood ash in the soil seems to have finally resolved the problem. The camomile has grown amazingly with lots of buds which should be flowering soon! I have been picking the lettuce, mizuna, parsely, chives, coriander for salads and to put in omelets. When grown purely with sunshine and water, they are so flavorful and aromatic! It really makes one appreciate the power and gift of nature.

Fini d'enlever les placo plâtres, l'isolations et le ferraillage

Nous avions commencé à enlever le mur et l'isolation il ya quelques semaines avec les autres WWOOFers (partie 1). Cette semaine, j'ai fini le niveau du plafond et le mezzanine et tout le ferraillage avec notre nouvelle WWOOFeuse Taïwanaise, Christina. Elle est du Canada mais vit à Tokyo et parle le japonais. Que deux filles sur une grande échelle avec une visseuse... C'était assez ambitieux, mais nous avons travaillé avec prudence et patience avec parfois une certaine créativité - comme l'utilisation de deux balais comme des baguettes pour attraper des morceaux d'isolation qui nous ne pouvions pas atteindre. Ça a très bien fonctionné! Avec deux têtes et notre détermination, tout s'est bien passé. Tous, sauf pour la partie la plus haute, nous avons réussi à enlever tout le reste. Bon travail d'équipe, Christina! Le cabanon est maintenant propre et prêt pour l'étape suivante.

この間ウーファーたちと解体作業を始めたのですが（パート１）、今週は台湾人のウーファー、クリスティーナ（東京に住んでいて日本語が流暢。素晴らしい。）と二人で残っていた天井の壁、断熱材、そして鉄枠を全部取り外しました。女の子二人でまともな足場がない天井の解体作業。限られた道具で力と身長がない分、安全を第一に考えて慎重に手順を考えて作業に取り組みました。ドキドキしながら高い梯子に登って電動ドライバーで釘をはずして、届かないところの断熱材はホウキを２本使って「箸作戦」で取り出したり、と知恵を絞りながら二人のチームワークで意外にスムーズに進みました。一番高い部分の枠組みはさすがに届かなかったのですが、それ以外は全部取り外せました。二人で良く頑張ったと思います！おかげでキャバノンもすっきり、綺麗に。次の作業への準備万端です。お疲れさまでした！

We had began dismantling the wall and insulation a few weeks ago with the other WWOOFers (part 1) so this week, I finished dismantling what was left on the ceiling, mezzanine and all of the iron framework with our new Taiwanese WWOOFer, Christina - from Canada who lives in Tokyo and speaks Japanese. Just two girls on a huge ladder with a screwgun... It was quite challenging but we just had to work with caution and patience and sometimes with some creativity - like using two brooms like chopsticks to grab pieces of insulation that we couldn't reach - which worked wonderfully! With two minds and determination, everything went smoothly. All except for the highest part, we were able to remove everything else. Great teamwork, Christina! The cabanon is now nice and clean, ready for the next step.
