Atelier: Keyhole Potager part 1

J'ai fait mon premier atelier d'aujourd'hui, le "keyhole" potager. Notre premier participant pour cet atelier était Damien, 12 ans, qui vit dans le village.

Le “keyhole potager” est un petit potager circulaire au centre duquel se trouve une colonne qui sert de composteur et de distributeur d’eau, ce qui entraine une diffusion lente et homogène des nutriments. L’organisme à l’origine du projet est « Send a Cow » qui a diffusé cette technique révolutionnaire de jardinage en Afrique à Lesotho.

６ 月１９日：初アトリエ「キーホールガーデン」作り

土曜日 の午後、初アトリエを実施しました。初アトリエの初参加者は一人、ここから徒歩１０分ぐらいのところに住んでいる１２歳のダミアン君！朝から雨で不安だっ た のですが何とか天気は持ち、午後から二人でキーホールガーデン作りに一緒に挑戦しました。

キーホールガーデンとは名前の通り、カギ穴 のよ うな型をしていて地面から土が盛られ（レイズド・ベッドといいます）、真ん中にコンポストが設けられた自給持続型のパーマカルチャーの要素を生かした典型 的なガーデンです。これはもともとLesothoというアフリカの村で激しい日照による畑の破壊に困っていた村人たちを助けるためにSend A CowというNPO団体が自給自足を可能にするキーホールガーデンの作り方を教えて彼らの生活を改善したというところから広まりました。

June 19: I ran my first workshop today, the "keyhole garden". Our first student for the first workshop was 12 year old Damien who lives in the village. We were concerned about the rain but the clouds held up for the afternoon.

Damien et moi étions une grande équipe. Nous avons réfléchi ensemble et bien travaillé. Nous avons aussi parlé de la Coupe du Monde et avons salué les visiteurs qui sont venus voir l'exposition. Lentement mais sûrement, nous avons avancé mais à peine avions-nous fini le panier du compost qu'il a commencé à pleuvoir ... malheureusement nous avons dû arrêter pour cette fois. Mais je remercie Damien pour toute son aide. C'était amusant de travailler avec toi! A suivre...

二人で試行錯誤しながら、ワールドカップの話をしたり、展示会を観に来た人たちを笑顔で迎えたり、とゆっくり、楽しみながら作業を進めていたのですがコンポストの 枠を作り終えたところで雨が降ってきてしまい、残念ながら作業は中断しました。また続きは晴れの日に。ダミアン君、ありがとう！とっても楽しかったよ。

Damien and I were a great team as we put our two heads together. We talked about the World Cup and greeted visitors who came to see the exhibition as well. Slowly but surely, it was coming along but right when we finished the compost basket, it started to rain... so unfortunately we had to stop for the day. But thank you Damien, for all of your help.
